Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan – Father of Democracy

Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan born on November 13, 1916 was known as symbol of Democracy in Pakistani Politics. He started his politics as a student. He joined Majlis-e-Ehraar against the will of his family. Majlis-e-Ehraar was an opposition party.

After foundation of Pakistan Nawabzada joined Pakistan Muslim League. He won two seats in provincial assembly from Khangarh, Muzafargarh in 1951. He couldn’t retain his position in governing party because of his opposing nature. He resigned from Muslim League and since then till his death he always remained in opposition parties.

Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan was named “Baba-e-Jamhooriat” but he always supported one pillar of Democracy and that was opposition; he was also famous for making alliances against the sitting government and bringing the government down.

Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan died on 27th of September 2003
